The family of Donna Summer is hitting back at media reports that smoking contributed to the disco diva's death on Thursday.
Summer died of lung cancer, family members said in a statement on Friday. However, they claim that contrary to some reports, the "Hot Stuff" singer was a non-smoker.

"Obviously, numerous factors can be attributed to the cause of cancer in general, but any details regarding the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of Ms. Summer's case remain between her family and team of doctors," the family said in a statement.
Summer was 63 years old and was best known for her hit singles "She Works Hard for the Money," "Bad Girls," and "Last Dance."
Summer's publicist Brian Edwards said in an earlier statement that funeral services for the singer will be private and will only include family and close friends.
She is survived by her husband — singer and producer Bruce Sudano; their daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda; and Summer's daughter, Mimi, from a previous marriage.

Miley Cyrus‘ weight loss has been under the microscope lately–is Miley getting too skinny?
Miley was spotted outside a Miami Beach hotel earlier this week, wearing a tank mini dress and looking pretty thin.
Of course, Miley has credited her gluten-free diet as the secret to her weight loss success, and she’s been seen coming and going from pilates classes almost daily.
Her diet and exercise regimen is definitely working–maybe too well?
In April, Miley sounded off to critics who said she was anorexic, sharing her gluten-free lifestyle on Twitter, writing: “For everyone calling me anorexic, I have a gluten and lactose allergy. It’s not about weight–it’s about health. Gluten is crap anyway!”
Miley looks like she’s ever shrinking, but maybe it’s just a good diet and exercise plan? Stay healthy, Miley!

Jackie Chan has had it with acting — in action films, anyway. Chan announced his career shift at the Cannes Film Festival during a “Chinese Zodiac” press conference, saying, “This will be my last action movie. I tell you, I am not young any more. I am really, really tired.”
What’s next for Chan in Hollywood? “I don’t just want to be an action star. I want to be a true actor. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro,” he explained. “I want to get rid of my image. So, for the last 10 years
As a defender of the 1985 comedy “Clue,” I can’t automatically reject the idea of basing a feature film on a board game. But the game Clue comes with characters and a plot and a house. Battleship comes with a grid and boats and pegs.
All those things turn up in “Battleship,” a big, loud, stupid Hollywood movie that winds up looking all the better by virtue of not being as elephantine and deafening and moronic as a Michael Bay “Transformers” adventure. Peter Berg and writers Erich and John Hoeber aren’t interested in nuance or character or wit, but they imbue the movie with enough adrenaline and forward momentum that I was never bored. And that, sadly, makes it better than most of the other expensive and over-hyped films of its ilk.
Taylor Kitsch does his damnedest to channel Tom Cruise’s Maverick character from “Top Gun” — the “John Carter” star plays Alex Hopper, a troublemaker who nonetheless has lots of potential. (We know this because every three minutes or so, someone yells, “You have so much potential!” at him.) The younger brother of distinguished naval officer Stone Hopper (Alexander Skarsgård, whose first line of dialogue betrays his Scandinavian accent) and boyfriend of Sam (Brooklyn Decker), the nubile daughter of Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson), Alex nonetheless finds himself on the verge of getting kicked out of the Navy.
But then the aliens come. Drawn to Earth by a high-powered signal sent to them — scientists are stupid, the movie seems to be saying — five vessels arrive, creating an impenetrable dome that covers both Hawaii (where the alien-contacting satellite dishes are located) and a naval exercise where U.S. ships are engaging in mock combat with fleets from various Asian countries.
Firing a series of peg-like missiles, the aliens take out several ships, and Alex finds himself having to command his own vessel. Can he get along with his Japanese rival long enough to defeat the lizardy humanoid E.T.s? Can Sam and her physical therapy patient and a techno-nerd (Hamish Linklater) stop the first wave of aliens from contacting their brethren?
You can probably guess. What you might not foresee is that Rihanna, playing a weapons expert, doesn’t embarrass herself as an actress; she neither hits the heights of Mariah Carey in “Precious,” nor the depths of Carey in “Glitter,” but her work is perfectly serviceable. It also won’t surprise that the script is full of holes — the aliens knock out radio and the internet in Hawaii, but Alex’s ship can still summon a grid of buoys on the computer? — or that the movie is loaded with shameless product placement for brands of soda and fast food that will not be mentioned here.
The studios seem hell-bent on making Kitsch happen as a leading man, but once again, he’s adequate at best. At times, his performance seems so blurry as to merely be a conduit through which teen boys can imagine themselves saving the day in his place. (Join the Navy, the movie seems to be saying. A lot.)
Nonetheless, this thing lasts 131 minutes but almost never drags, and there’s something to be said for keeping this much baloney aloft for that long. Like the bulky and unwieldy vessel for which it’s named, “Battleship” is both indefensible and unassailable.
Who wants to see Channing Tatum naked?
For those that missed his prior career as a stripper, that time is rapidly approaching.
Tatum almost takes it all off in the new trailer for “Magic Mike,” Steven Soderbergh’s foray into a world where clothing is most definitely optional.
Though Tatum goes no further than a banana hammock, the second trailer for the Warner Bros. film features plenty of on-stage gyrating and disrobing, as well as a bit of Rihanna — three things that go hand-in-hand.

Tatum (aka “Magic Mike”) is seen mentoring Pettyfer’s character, as directed by the strip club’s owner, played by Matthew McConaughey. For his part, McConaughey dons a workout outfit reminiscent of Miami in the 1980s.
The person wearing the most clothing? That would be Cody Horn, who plays Pettyfer’s sister. Sorry guys.

Plenty of "Saturday Night Live" cast members have adopted the persona of a U.S. president. Not many of them have done so in seriousness, however.
"SNL" alum Bill Murray plays former president Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the upcoming historical drama "Hyde Park on Hudson." The film chronicles an affair between FDR and his distant cousin Margaret Suckley, in the context of a weekend in 1939 when the King and Queen of England visited upstate New York.
Laura Linney plays Suckley, while Olivia Williams plays FDR's wife, Eleanor Roosevelt.
Dare we hope for a day when Adam Sandler will play LBJ on the big screen, or Horatio Sanz tackles the role of Grover Cleveland?
"Hyde Park on Hudson" opens on — yes, really — Dec. 7. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself if it's a day that will live in infamy.

Mick Jagger taught "Saturday Night Live" star Kristen Wiig everything she knows about music, meaning lots of scoop on drugs and various sexual acts. That's what Wiig tells the Rolling Stones singer in promos for Saturday's 37th season finale of "SNL."
"Mick, I am so excited you're hosting," Wiig says in the promo. "I grew up on you, you taught me so much about music. Seriously, you taught me so much about using drugs … like, so many drugs. The different types of drugs …"

If we like our stars to be conflicted, Donna Summer certainly fit the bill.
As her career crested in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the singer, who died Thursday at the age of 63, was one of the most “out” born-again Christians in the music business, forever reconciling herself with the fact that her career had been founded on a 17-minute musical orgasm.
Also read: Donna Summer, Queen of Disco, Dead at 63
In the age of coke, mirror balls, a relentless 4/4 thump-thump and giving yourself over to absolute pleasure, Summer was a non-sensualist who just wanted to sing.
There were moments of tension with a fan base that wanted to preserve her as a disco icon — especially when she was accused (falsely, she said) of expressing her religious beliefs in a way that resulted in a rumor that one of the queens of gay music was a homophobe. But all was reconciled in the end.
Although the mass pop audience hadn’t given Summer a Top 10 pop hit since 1988, the club crowd continued to embrace her newer music, and she had four songs hit No. 1 on Billboard’s dance music chart in the last half-dozen years, the last chart-topper in 2010.
Perhaps more tellingly, she even started performing “Love to Love You Baby” in concert again around 2005 — minus the epic moans. Summer loved to love us loving the song that first brought her to the dance.
The preeminent diva of the disco era died Thursday in Florida, where she lived with husband Bruce Sudano after a stint as Nashville residents. Even some who worked with her weren’t aware of she had cancer, as she’d been making rounds in Los Angeles as recently as two months ago.
Summer first started recording in 1971, using her birth name, Gaines, for her earliest UK single in 1971. Her first album, three years later, wasn’t even released in the United States.
It wasn’t until “Love to Love You Baby” established her as an overt sex symbol that she broke through, much as she spent ensuing years trying to live down one of history’s most orgasmic songs (and the equally suggestive album cover art).
“If I’d known seven years ago that all I had to do was groan, I would have been groaning!” she joked to Rolling Stone.
As she recalled it in her autobiography, she tried to imagine herself as Marilyn Monroe during the recording, which took place in a candlelit studio with Summer prone on the floor (furthering the song’s legend, naturally). She had no idea all 17 minutes would come out as an LP-side-length track; she was just vamping to give the producers an extended idea of what they might do. Of course, innocent top 40 listeners didn’t necessarily know what all the hubbub was about, since the single version was shortened by 13 minutes and (about) 130 orgasms.
“I have so much more to offer,” she complained at the time – and indeed she did, as the woman who first made her name off the non-musical sounds she made on a record proved to be even better at singing than heavy breathing. And she did have breath control, mind you: “Dim All the Lights,” arguably the best song of her career, had her sustaining a note for 16 seconds, purportedly a record for a top 40 hit.
After 1975′s “Love to Love You,” it was another two years before Summer had another monster hit, in the form of “I Feel Love.” That might be the most influential of all her hits, though not so much because of anything she did as Giorgio Moroder’s electro textures.
“Last Dance,” the theme from 1978′s disco-sploitation picture "Thank God It’s Friday," had plenty of production and writing brilliance to spare, not least of all in the last-minute addition of a balladic opening that made the eventual transition to pure disco all the more exciting. But from here on out, it was Summer’s singing that made her smashes smashes.
The “Bad Girls” double-album in 1978, besides being her swan song for Casablanca Records, also marked the end of an era when it came to Summer being willing to position herself as a sex kitten.
Also read: Barbra Streisand on Donna Summer: 'She Had an Amazing Voice'
Her duet with Barbra Streisand, “No More Tears (Enough is Enough),” established her as a Class Act once and for all. But there would be commercial limitations to coincide with de-tarting her act so severely. “No More Tears” was her last No. 1 on Billboard’s pop chart, though that may have had as much to do with the “disco sucks” side finally winning in the culture – temporarily, anyway – as Summer’s cleaned-up act.
Summer fell in with a fellow evangelical Christian, producer Michael Omartian, for a run of synthy, less bass-heavy hits like “She Works Hard for the Money,” the theme song of ‘80s Day-Glo pop feminism. Not incidentally, it was her first music-video hit, in the dawn of the MTV era. Minor hits followed, including an unlikely take on the Jon Anderson/Vangelis mood ballad “State of Independence.” But a mojo had been lost.
A Wall Street Journal review of a poorly attended 2008 amphitheater show in New Hampshire describes a scene in which Summer is peopling half her set with songs from her “Crayons” comeback, which probably only dozens of audience members had bothered to buy, while withstanding cries for “Hot Stuff” and other oldies she’d barely have time to squeeze into even an all-hits set. Clearly she wasn’t resigned to being strictly a nostalgia act, which might have accounted in part for her long time away.
But maybe we should feel most nostalgic, in an age of divas who’d do anything to get ahead, that Donna Summer never met a discotheque she couldn’t class up.

Aniello Arena, one of the stars of the Cannes competition entry "Reality," can't attend his film's Friday premiere because he's in prison, reportedly for murder.
Reports out of Cannes, both in Italian newspapers and in Forbes and Vanity Fair, say that Arena has been in prison for more than 20 years, serving a life sentence for murder. (VF cites reports that say it was a double murder.)
Also read: Cannes Review: 'Reality' Bites the Quest for Fame
Speaking to the press following the film's first screening, director Matteo Garrone did not address the nature of Arena's crimes. But he did acknowledge that Arena is imprisoned, and that he was allowed to shoot the movie during the day as long as he returned to the prison each night.
Arena (on the right in the photo) was discovered by Garrone acting in the Fortezza Theater Company, a prison troupe that is based at the Volterra Detention Center but allowed to appear at festivals and theaters around Italy. According to Garrone, the director wanted to cast Arena in his 2008 film "Gomorrah," a gritty and acclaimed look at organized crime, but was denied by prison authorities.
In "Reality," Arena stars as a fishmonger who is obsessed with getting on the Italian version of the reality-television series "Big Brother."
Peter Bradshaw, critic for the Guardian, singled out Arena's performance in his review: "[T]here is a very winning central performance from newcomer Aniello Arena as Luciano, who has a sharp, calculating and very mobile, open face, which registers every jolt of fear, of hope, of triumph and dismay: the face of a would-be comedian who can do everything but make people laugh."
Cast tweeting and the fact that several characters on the show are about to graduate from high school have led to speculation that certain "Glee" cast members might be headed to the unemployment line after Tuesday's season three finale.
Not so, says "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy.
"We had a meeting, and you know, we've become like a family, and I said to them, 'Anybody who wants to stay on the show will stay on the show,'" Murphy told Vulture.com.
"They're all coming back," Murphy continued. "Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes."
Also read: Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker Guesting on 'Glee'
Murphy doesn't guarantee that everyone is coming back for the whole season of the show, which will move from Tuesdays to Thursdays for its fourth season in the fall.
"It doesn't mean everyone will be doing 22 episodes, but everyone wants to stay in our family and our world,'" Murphy said. "I wanted to make sure those actors know that if they want to have a home, they have a home. If they want to explore new and different things while also having a home, that is also an option."

"Breakout Kings" has been given the ax by A&E.
The series, from former "Prison Break" team Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead, has been canceled after two seasons, the second of which wrapped up April 29.
The series revolved around a group of U.S. marshals who enlist prisoners to help them catch escaped convicts, with time taken off of their sentences for each fugitive captured.
Malcolm Goodwin, who played former gang leader Shea Daniels on the series, acknowledged the cancellation on his Twitter account Thursday, writing, "So Breakout Kings is canceled. Thx to all 4 the luv & support over the last 2 seasons! It's been a fun experience! Much luv! On to the next."
Speaking of "the next," Olmstead seems to have that ground covered; he's moving on become showrunner of Dick Wolf's new drama "Chicago Fire," which was recently ordered to series by NBC.

Vampire Diaries season 4 Mike Trevino talks new Tyler,Klaus spoilers & more, new clip. Hollywood Life recently caught up to Vampire Diaries, werewolf Tyler Lockwood, star Michael Trevino at the recent CW Upfronts event, and he revealed what he’d like to see go down in season 4,and more (video below). In the clip, Mike said that he wants to play Klaus a little bit more in season 4,and see how far they can go with the whole Klaus/Tyler body switch. He also commented on seeing how far the Klaus/Caroline relationship can go without Klaus coming in,and messing up everything. He also talked about how difficult it is too shoot those wicked werewolf transformation scenes. It takes very long hours to shoot them, and he has to growl into a mic for long periods of time, which is totally not flattering. But,yeah,he was really adamant about wanting to play, Klaus’ character a little while longer,so we may see him play Klaus for a few more episodes when season 4 stars back up. Check it out, below.

The Producers Guild of America has changed the date of its 2013 awards, moving the ceremony back one week to Saturday, Jan. 26.
At the same time, PGA presidents Hawk Koch and Mark Gordon announced that "Moneyball" and "The Social Network" producer Michael De Luca will serve as producer of the non-televised awards show.
The PGA Awards were originally slated to take place on Jan. 19, a date that would have put the guild in the clear even if the Academy Awards had opted to move earlier in the year. The Academy's board of governors opted to stick with the Oscars' usual late-February date.
The Producers Guild was able to move its show because of an earlier change made by the Directors Guild of America, which had initially claimed that date for its own show but has moved it back to Feb. 2.
The decision was made during the process of securing its venue, the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, according to a DGA press release.
Another major Hollywood guild, the Screen Actors Guild, will present its awards on Sunday, Jan. 27. The Writers Guild, typically the last of the big guilds to hand out prizes, has yet to announce its 2013 dates.

Supernatural season 8 is on its way and new spoilers coming soon. According to recent report from TV Line, CW has definitely renewed Supernatural for an 8th season, and will be returning in a new Wednesday time slot, bringing life back to the vacant night, along with new show “Arrow,” which is a spin-off of the Green Arrow character from former show Smallville. Hopefully,we’ll get some new spoiler teases later on this week from the showrunners. They gave us some last year, and we don’t expect any less from them this year. Also, Supernatural producer Sera Gamble, stepped down to focus on development,so former co-producer Jeremy Carver will be taking her place. Lets hope he doesn’t screw it up. Supernatural will remain in the 8pm central time slot with Arrow leading in at the 7pm time slot. Its funny, because I thought it would be the other way around, since Supernatural is the more established show, and would help bring viewers to Arrow. Somebody needs to switch that around. Stay tuned.

The Taylor Swift Eyes Open music video may not be here yet, but Taylor did fans a favor, releasing an Eyes Open lyric video.
Check out the Eyes Open lyrics below and the video, which shows handwritten words on paper and Post-Its, as well as sketches in the fun stop-motion animated video.
So cute!
Taylor just donated $4 million to Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to support music education, including the Taylor Swift Education Center.
Love her!
Taylor Swift Eyes Open lyrics:
“Everybody’s waiting
Everybody’s watching
Even when you’re sleeping
Keep your eyes, eyes open
The tricky thing is
Yesterday we were just children
Playing soldiers, just pretending
Dreaming dreams with happy endings
In backyards,
Winning battles with the wooden swords
But now we’ve stepped into a cruel world
Where everybody stands up,
And keeps score
Keep your eyes open
Everybody’s waiting
For you to breakdown
Everybody’s watching
To see the fallout
Even when you’re sleeping, sleeping
Keep your eyes open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your eyes open
So here you are
Two steps ahead and staying on guard
Every lesson forms a new scar
They never thought you’d make it this far
But turn around
Now they’ve surrounded you
It’s a showdown
And nobody comes to save you now
But you got something they don’t
Yeah, you got something they don’t
You just gotta keep your eyes open
Everybody’s waiting
For you to breakdown
Everybody’s watching
To see the fallout
Even when you’re sleeping, sleeping
Keep your eyes open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your eyes
Keep your feet ready
Heartbeat steady
Keep your eyes open
Keep your aim locked
The night grows dark
Keep your eyes open
Keep your eyes open (4x)
Everybody’s waiting
For you to breakdown
Everybody’s watching
To see the fallout
Even when you’re sleeping, sleeping
Keep your eyes open”

Eli Roth, the “Hostel” horror maestro, has obtained financing to write, direct and produce his latest thriller, “The Green Inferno,” from independent production company Worldview.
The New York-based company made the announcement on Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival.
This will be Roth’s much anticipated directorial follow-up to the enormously successful “Hostel” franchise, which collectively grossed over $300 million worldwide.
Roth co-wrote the screenplay with “Aftershock” co-writer Guillermo Amoedo, from an original story by Roth.
Roth will direct and produce the film alongside Worldview CEO, Christopher Woodrow, Worldview COO, Molly Conners, and Sobras International producers Miguel Asensio Llamas and Nicolás Lopez.
Production will begin in the fall of 2012 in Peru and Chile, where Roth recently produced the earthquake thriller “Aftershock,” currently in post production.
Tobin Armbrust, President of Worldwide Production and Acquisition, picked up the film for Exclusive Media. Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution, is launching “The Green Inferno” for the first time to international buyers at the Marché du Film in Cannes. CAA will handle the domestic sale.
Worldview is currently in production on Guillaume Canet’s crime thriller, “Blood Ties,” starring Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, Zoe Saldana, Mila Kunis and James Caan. The company is also financing Atom Egoyan’s West Memphis Three biopic, “Devil’s Knot,” starring Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, slated to begin in June.
